Early Check-In or Late Check Out?
From early check-ins, to late check-outs, and local massages, see what we offer in our store.
Heating and Cooling
Cooling: Each cabin is outfitted with one or several Heat Pumps that provide AC during the summer months. These are typically left in "Dry Mode", which provide a comfortable, dehumidified environment for the cabins. This is indicated by the water droplet symbol. If this causes the cabin to be Too Cool for your liking, we would recommend simply turning off the Heat Pump by pointing the remote toward the right hand side of the wall mounted unit. You will hear an audible beep when this happens.
Your cabin may also have a living room ceiling fan that will either be controlled with a wall mounted remote or normal wall mounted switch.
* If you want to open the windows to enjoy that fresh Maine air, please turn off the heat pump. Also, that fresh air is best enjoyed through the Screened Windows and not from the door being left open. If you leave the door open for any period of time in the Maine Summer, you will soon come to understand the meaning of the saying "If you ever thought you were too small to make a difference, then you've never been in a room in the middle of the night with a mosquito!"
Heating: During the heating season, each cabin is heated by one or more Heat Pumps. For best performance, push the Mode button until Heat Mode is selected. Use the up and down arrows to set the desired temperature. Push the Fan button until the Auto Fan setting is selected.
Note, do not use the "AUTO MODE" setting. This may cause the heat pump to accidentally cool during the heating season and vice versa.
Your cabin may also have white, electric baseboard heaters located in the bedrooms or bathroom for winter use. These will be appropriately set prior to your arrival to ensure adequate room temp and to prevent pipes from freezing in the winter. If you need to adjust (either up or down) during your stay, we ask that you return them back to the previous setting prior to leaving.
TV and WIFI
Every rental is outfitted with a Smart TV and Roku interface. The Roku remote can be used to control the TV.
Before you log in to your favorite streaming apps, be sure to enter Guest Mode on the Roku. This will allow you to enter your check out date so all of your streaming services will be signed out the day you leave.
Board Games
There are a selection of board games, puzzles, books and playing cards located on the shelves on the bookshelf in the basement. Feel free to enjoy these! We just ask you to keep the games organized and tidy for the next player's enjoyment.
Trash
The trash pail is located in the kitchen of every cabin. When full, there is a red dumpster located behind the cabin The Getaway which you may use if needed. Thank you for helping us keep our property tidy!
Laundry
Located in The Lodge, we currently have a small laundry room that is available for guest use. Please excuse the aesthetics while we work on a more permanent solution! This is located on the back left corner of The Lodge (large, log sided cabin) when facing the lake and is open 24/7 for your convenience. There are 2 sets of coin/op washers & dryers available. Each has been fitted with an electronic payment system so you can simply pay using your phone. Detailed instructions will be found on the machines themselves.
* Please refrain from using bleach when doing laundry, our septic system thanks you! :)
Kitchen and Grill Equipment
The stove top and oven: the stove and oven both run on propane gas. Please take care when using the knobs to light the stove, only hold the knob over the "light line" until the clicking ignites the flame, then continue turning the knob to the desired flame level, high, med, low.
The BBQ grills outside are propane, as well. The tanks should be sufficiently filled with propane for your grilling needs, however if you find a tank to be low or empty, please let us know and we will get one to you as soon as we can. Be sure to tighten the hose/ tank fixture securely to ensure a safe/ snug fit. You should find the grill spatula and tongs in the kitchen drawers; please wash and return them to the drawer for the next guest.
Kayaks, Paddle Boat, Life Jackets
The large kayak rack down by the beach holds kayaks, a canoe, and a stand up paddle board for all guest use. There are various sized life jackets which we encourage even the strongest of swimmers to wear when using our watercraft. Please return all boats to the rack, along with the paddles, and hang up all life jackets after use. Do not leave any boat pulled up at the waters edge for a prolonged period of time, the wind has been known to kick up and wash boats back into the lake off-shore.
Maine State Law requires that anyone using a kayak, canoe, or SUP watercraft must have a life jacket on board at all times. Additionally, children under 10 must wear a life jacket whenever they are in a boat. Please note that we are not liable for any tickets or fines issued by a Maine Game Warden for non-compliance with these laws. Use of the kayaks and swimming are at your own risk, so please exercise caution and your best judgment when enjoying these activities.
Beach Equipment
Check out the large tote down by the kayak rack which will house a couple of large baskets full of sand toys. Please just return the baskets and all of their contents rinsed off at the end of the day.
Due to the potential of high winds at the property, we do not offer umbrellas for guest use, however there are many large trees spread across the ground offering excellent shady areas to retreat out of the sun.
Firepit
Each cabin has a fire-pit and grilling grate for guest use. Firewood is available for purchase on site.
Before leaving your fire for the night, please ensure it has been completely extinguished by pouring some water over the coals. We ask that nothing other than firewood and paper are burned in the fire pit. Trash and other undesirables tend to find their way on the ground by the fire pits. Thanks for being considerate!
Chairs & Tables
There are plastic Adirondack chairs scattered across the property for everyone's use, whether on the lawns or the beach. There is also a large, wooden picnic table in front of each cabin. They can be moved around a bit as desired, but please keep the tables on the lawn area, rather than the beach.
Emergency and Safety Information
Please call 911 immediately in case of a fire or other life-threatening emergency. After you are safe, please notify us immediately.
